How do I put on and take off the kinesiology tape? TEMTEX® Tourmaline Kinesiology Tape is best used by a professional such as a physiotherapist or massage therapist. However, if you know the principles of applying the tape, you can successfully do it yourself. If you have planned sports activities, apply the tape to your body at least 20-30 minutes before the start of your workout. First, find the sore muscle. Then choose the width and length of kinesiology tape that suits the muscle: for example, a 7.5 cm wide tape is best for the broad back muscle, while a narrower 5 cm tape is suitable for most other muscles. Round off the ends of the tape for a better fit. Before applying the tape, clean the area and remove any hair. Gently stretch the muscles and apply the tape to ensure a good adhesion. Do not stretch the tape itself too much, but apply the tape to the stretched muscle. Make sure that the tape makes small waves when the muscle returns to its normal position. Keep the tape on the skin for 3-5 days. Due to the fabric and the heat-activated acrylic adhesive, the skin is able to breathe through the surface of the tape and allergic reactions are rare. However, if you feel itching or notice a rash after applying the tape, remove the tape immediately. To remove the tape, hold the skin with one hand and gently remove the tape with the other hand. Do not abruptly pull the kinesiology tape away from the skin.
